overcome feeling…

God wants us to feel joy in our relationships, not heartache. That’s why the Bible commands us to “forgive one another” and “judge not.” But the question is, how? Forgiveness gives five Bible-based, easy-to-understand steps to truly forgive and stop judging. Following the steps allows God to clear the hard feelings from our hearts, making room for the joy we’re missing.

Only God sees the whole picture. So doesn’t it make sense to trust in God’s infinite vision instead of my own finite capabilities when things go wrong or are less than ideal? In the practice of Praise, we remind ourselves of who God is, and the limited scope of who we are.  As we praise God, we’re able to turn away from our problems and trust in God’s greatness and goodness.

In the Bible, Jesus commanded us not to worry. So not worrying must be a real option, but how exactly are we supposed to do that? The Biblical answer is Relinquishment. Relinquishment is a spiritual response to being worried or fearful, broken down into four easy steps. In Relinquishment, we turn over our worries and fears to God, who takes our anxiety and gives us profound peace.

How can we have confidence that we’re making the wisest decisions?  The Bible says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God.”  When we ask God for guidance, we access God’s infinite wisdom and rely on his intimate knowledge. Hearing from God through the steps of Listening Prayer, we can be confident we’re making the best possible decision.

Stress may come from too many items on our to-do lists, or from trying to do too many selfless things. Carrying a heavy burden of stress day after day can lead to weariness—body and soul. It’s in our weariness that Jesus reaches out and says, “Come to me… and I will give you rest.”  When we need that kind of rest, we respond to Jesus’ invitation through a practice called Resting.

“Once I had interacted with the practices a few times, several of the steps were planted in my mind in such a way that God now uses them in very practical ways to draw my thoughts back to Him when I am in difficult situations.”

— Mike Parker

“This was the first time that we felt like a study drew us closer to the Lord. That the activities were not filling in a blank but they were taking you straight to the Lord and you were wrestling through a problem with him.”

— Michelle Slatton
